Regulations to import pets

  • Your pet is required to have a microchip.
  • You need to have a current vaccination certificate for your pet that includes protection against rabies as well as DHPPiL/PCH. vaccination that was administered between 21 days before entering the United Arab Emirates.
  • A titer test must have been performed on all dogs and cats entering the United Arab Emirates from a country with a high rabies prevalence no sooner than 21 days after the rabies vaccine and between 12 weeks and 12 months before the time of your pet’s arrival into the United Arab Emirates. This test must have been performed no sooner than 21 days after the rabies vaccination provided by the Veterinary Hospital in Sharjah.
  • Each individual is permitted to bring in a maximum of two pets, and an import permit is necessary for each animal brought in.
  • The following canine breeds and mixtures are not permitted for importation into the UAE: The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the American Bully, any Mastiff, the Japanese tosa, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinschers, Canario Presa, and the Boxer are all considered to be dangerous breeds.
